Droud Makes a Tough Decision

(05/09) Last weekend was the first of a few conflicts that Don Droud, Jr. would have in the 2008 schedule that he had planned. As the driver of the Bobby Sparks #91, the Och Brothers #1X and the Dare 2 Team/Don Droud-owned #2, Jr. knew that it might get kind of dicey to make all the shows that his owners wanted to compete at. But with all the racing that was supposed to happen, the Lincoln driver figured it could work out. Unfortunately, it wasn't the schedule that caused Droud to make an agonizing decision on Monday night.

Droud knew that trying to meet the needs of all the teams he was connected with would not be good for anyone. He had struggled in the 91 car, but was committed to make the team succeed. But the owner and driver discussed the big picture and thought it would be best for both if they parted ways.

"It makes me sad to come to this conclusion, but it's something that probably is best for both Bobby and me." Droud said. "I wish him the best and am grateful for the opportunities that he gave me."

With Sparks hiring Donnie Ray Crawford to finish out the season, Droud now turns his attention to the #1X, which races in the hometown of the Och boys, Jetmore, Kansas, this Saturday night.
